Havruta passover EVE

Naot Smadar

It is a tradition for years that we hold a festive Seder together with extended families across generations. Three days with a fine holiday meal based on pure vegetarian and vegan dishes. This year we will be hosting the event for the second time at Naot Smadar, in a unique and relaxing environment, with a small number of families.

Take a family time out, with a welcoming team that provides parents, children, and youth with support and release for a few days, in a temporary community with enriching content.

Three days of quiet from all the chaos in our country, to travel to the pastoral desert to enjoy being together as a family and community. With content for children, youth and adults that deals with getting to know the desert nature, organic farming, art and stars. With fine vegetarian meals for all days at Naot Smadar, which is a community kibbutz.

At the Seder meal, the menu will be festive and special, each family will have their own table decorated for the holiday and served for your enjoyment. The meals on all days of the stay will be kosher for Passover.

About Havruta

Havruta is a unique concept that has been taking place for over 10 years during the Jewish holidays in Moa. Last year, we moved the Havruta hosting to Naot Smadar and we enjoy a small, intimate Havruta, with high-value workshops tailored to the content that the kibbutz can offer as a collective community. We will be together as families, parents and children, as a community for a few days, in a place that is all about nature and organic farming. The workshops will be designed for ages 5-16 (if there are children under 4, talk to us and we will think together) and will deal with community, organic farming, art, nature and astronomy. There will be workshops for parents such as yoga or tai chi every morning and discussion meetings and joining the workshops together with the children to enjoy them. We will be with the children, gather them and bring them quality and engaging workshops that will connect them to themselves, to nature, and to the community.

In hosting, we will ask and try to be screen-free in public spaces, as nature and disconnecting from cell phones and television gives us an easier and quieter starting point. (No need to tell the children beforehand😉). We really ask that you come with an open mind.

We will hold most of the workshops together with members of the Naot Smadar community, and we will be able to experience life in a community space through learning, listening, and action within the framework of social hospitality.

There is a possibility of staying overnight the day before or after the workshop for an additional 600 NIS per room and 1000 NIS per cabin (without meals and upon request)

About Naot Smadar

The Havruta will take place at the Naot Smadar hospitality center, which offers the tranquility of the magical beauty of the desert within beautiful ecological rooms, with green corners, lovingly tended and a connection to the powerful nature that surrounds the place. The quiet expanse of the desert together with the beauty of the hospitality center greatly support our ability to let go of the stresses of everyday life and free up time to enjoy and relax together with the family. The beautiful conditions of the place, surrounded by a vast desert, provide ideal conditions for a holiday.

There is a small pool facing nature that can be enjoyed at the full responsibility of the guests.

The drive from Tel Aviv takes about three hours, the drive is via Mitzpe Ramon (we will give recommendations for places to eat in Mitzpe Ramon) or via the Arava (a little longer).

Kibbutz Naot Smadar is Located in the southern Negev above the Arava, the kibbutz was established in 1989 with the intention of creating a learning community in which questions about the state of humans in the world would be examined in practice through relationships, action and observation.

Naot Smadar was established from a fascinating journey of research and observation, and is examined daily in the shared life and joint action of members who live permanently and volunteers. The workshop complex is located near the kibbutz itself in a secluded and quiet area overlooking the magnificent Edom Mountains.

Dining in the Havruta

The meals for the entire stay will be managed and cooked by a kitchen team from the desert with a local team, the food will be excellent, with vegetarian and vegan dishes. the menu includes a very wide variety of dishes based on fresh and seasonal ingredients, which will be made with creativity and love, with special attention to dishes that children will also love to eat. We are open and sensitive to the issue of food for children or adults with allergies.

The holiday meal will be served on tables with tablecloths that will be laid out in a festive manner for each family. The first courses and the blessing plate will be on the tables. The Seder reading will be conducted individually or as a group, we will decide together. Special main courses with flavors of home and holiday will be served in a buffet and of course wonderful last courses.

Clarification: Each additional child or guest over the age of 15, in addition to the parents, will be considered an adult and there will be an additional charge of 250 NIS for meals.
